She stated the most important thing to a person who is diagnosed with cancer is support and people who guide them through the burden and fear that is in their minds. She felt strides could be made in pancreatic research and spoke of her Mother's illness, adding she was told she was cancer free one year ago but is now developing subsequent complications. Councilwoman Updegrave said pancreatic cancer is a horrendous disease and asked for people who would want to volunteer in the support of those who suffer from this deadly cancer."
